A few of the notable statistics that influence our work around prosperity issues, which includes projects addressing employment, digital inclusion and money management:

• The percentage of people claiming employment benefits has nearly doubled since 2005 with the claimant rate increasing from 2.7% to 5.5% in East Cardiff, compared to a Cardiff average of 4.2%.

• Over half of the children across the cluster live in households claiming income related benefits.

• With such a large percentage of people accessing employment benefits there are a limited number of adults who can act as positive role models in regards to training and employment.

• Opportunities for local employment can be restricted to retail work within one of the small local business areas or the two industrial estates on the outskirts of the cluster that require specific skills or experience.

• Through 10 consultations with the Community and input from stakeholders, we have received many anecdotal reports of multiple generations of families who have never worked and don’t have the aspirations or belief in themselves to find employment.

• 52.7% of Llanrumney, 40.4% of Pentwyn, 45.4% of Rumney and 41.8% of Trowbridge residents have no qualifications

• 38.6% of Llanrumney, 46% of Pentwyn, 43.2% or Rumney and 43.5% or Trowbridge residents have lower level qualifications

• NEETS, antisocial behaviour and youth annoyance remain a priority for Communities, Cardiff Councils’ Neighbourhood Management Team and South Wales Police.

• 6.01% of young people offending compared to a Cardiff average of 3.6%

• 1319 incidents of anti-social behaviour were reported in the last year.

• Gall cyfleoedd ar gyfer cyflogaeth lleol yn cael eu cyfyngu i waith manwerthu o fewn un o’r ardaloedd lleol bychain busnes neu’r ddwy ystad ddiwydiannol ar gyrion y clwstwr sy’n gofyn am sgiliau neu brofiad penodol.

• Trwy 10 ymgynghoriad â’r Gymuned a mewnbwn gan randdeiliaid, rydym wedi derbyn llawer o adroddiadau anecdotaidd o genedlaethau lluosog o deuluoedd nad ydynt erioed wedi gweithio ac nad oes ganddynt dyheadau neu gred ynddynt eu hunain i ddod o hyd i gyflogaeth.

• 6.01% o bobl ifanc droseddu o’i gymharu â chyfartaledd Caerdydd 3.6%

• 1,319 o achosion o ymddygiad gwrth-gymdeithasol yn cael eu hadrodd yn y flwyddyn ddiwethaf.
