School and Beyond

The main focus of our School and Beyond project is to support third sector organisations such as charities and not for profit organisations, community groups and volunteers to deliver a range of initiatives that support young people to do well at school. Activities supported by Communities First improve attitudes towards education and the school environment and enrich the school experience for pupils by offering personal and social development opportunities that contribute ultimately to improving academic performance or increasing attendance.

This year we are supporting Rumney Chapel’s XL Mentoring initiative, Shine Wales’ Shine Girl programme that helps young girls improve their self-esteem, Elevate KCK’s Bigga programme that helps boys explore their own behaviours and identity, and after school coding and creative writing clubs. In the summer holidays we worked with our network of partners to deliver activities for more than 100 children as part of the four week Food and Fun programme in St. Mellons.

If you are involved with an organisation that has something to offer primary or high schools in Llanrumney, Rumney, St. Mellons, Trowbridge, Llanedeyrn or Pentwyn, please do get in touch!

Who’s it for? Parents of pupils in years 5 & 6, school age students.
