Community Involvement

Time Credits

Time Credits are Coming to East Cardiff, Llanedeyrn and Pentwyn!

What are Time Credits?

Time Credits are notes that are given to volunteers who spend one hour of their time volunteering on a community based project. They can then be used by the volunteer to access services and activities in and around South Wales or traded or gifted to family members or friends so that they can spend them wherever they want. Find out more about the scheme here: http://www.justaddspice.org/

Where can I spend them?

People can spend Time Credits to access services and activities where they earned their credits and with other Time Credit network organisations and community groups. 1 Time Credit is always equal to 1 hour of activities and has no cash value.

Lots of companies have signed up to accept time credits, including Cardiff City Football Club, Newport Gwent Dragons, Chapter Arts Theatre, all Cardiff Council Leisure Centres, the Wale Millennium Centre and much more! To see the full list of where you can spend your credits in South Wales go to: http://www.justaddspice.org/our-work/where-we-work

Who can sign up to give out Time Credits?

ECLP are offering all community groups who use volunteers to provide a beneficial service or activity for other community members the opportunity to join the ECLP Communities First Time Credit Network. To sign up the interested group will have to meet with a ECLP staff member to discuss how they will use time credits and to go through brief training on how to record how time credit use.

What can Time Credits do for your Community Group?

Some key benefits for community groups who sign up to the ECLP

  • Engage more volunteers in your activities to increase participation from local people and reach a wider audience
  • Recognise the contributions of volunteers and thank them
  • Increase the wellbeing of your volunteers by increasing their access to social, leisure and wellbeing activities.

Who can earn them?

Anyone! Anyone who gives one hour of their time to help support a community project, activity or service can earn time credits through ECLP or its affiliated groups.
